Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of different ocular i.e eye disorders either with conservative or by surgical intervention.

            Department of Ophthalmology DMCH started outdoor activities since 28th November 2019 which include diagnosis and treatment of various ocular ailments like poor vision due to refractive error, different eye diseases like conjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis etc. and evaluation as well as screening of cataract, glaucoma, diabetic eye diseases paediatric eye diseases like vitamin A deficiency etc. Similarly full equipped staff is also available in the IPD where patients are admitted and treated accordingly.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Academic activities

            Till now it is a under graduate deptand apart from academics of students,we are going to start different academic activities by organising departmental as well as inter departmental seminars,CME and workshops on various topics related to ocular health. 

Services 

            Apart from rendering our tertiary care services in DMCH, we also started community services by organising Eye camps in far reach areas of KarbiAnglong district. The aim of the services is to prevent blindness and to improve the quality of vision and ocular health by organising community screening, preventive and curative programmes. There is also a scope of research work into a variety of eye diseases.

            We are trying our level best to achieve such goals.

Publications

            Studies on different topics are going on but yet to send for publication.
