About

The Department of Anatomy, Diphu Medical College was established in 2019 after the college became functional on 25th November,2019. The first HOD of the department was Prof. (Dr.) Bijon Ch Dutta. Under the leadership of Prof B.C Dutta, a renowned Anatomist who had 35 yrs experiences in the teaching of Anatomy. He started his career as Demonstrator at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh in 1985 and was Prof and HOD of Anatomy at Silchar Medical  College  before joining Diphu Medical College. He was a Post Graduate  teacher having more than 12 yrs experiences as Prof & HOD. He was also a regular MCI assessor and Coordinator since 2010 and assessed more than 170 assessments  in both  PG and U.G courses.He was also member of Board of Specialist (Anatomy) in  National  Board of Examination, New Delhi.

The department is housed at ground floor of the Academic Block Building of Diphu Medical College.

INFRASTRUCTURE

  1. There is a museum consisting of embryological model and models of  different parts of human body which may be difficult to understand for UG students, soft tissue specimens, charts, posters and photographs, etc
  2. Department has a Library having textbooks and reference books, mainly related to the subject of Anatomy. The library room will be used as Seminar Room having capacity for 50-60 students and is equipped with modern teaching audiovisual aids.
  3. The Department has 2 demonstration rooms, 1 well equipped modular Histology laboratory and 1 Research laboratory.

  1. Embalming of dead bodies:
    1. For dissection purpose.
    2. As a public service for bodies that require transportation
  2. Awareness programs for body donation to encourage teaching and research.
